About The Position

The HR Benefits Generalist is responsible for administering employee benefits programs, leaves of absence, Workers' Compensation, workplace safety initiatives, and the HRIS platform - Paylocity. The HR Benefits Generalist supports the Human Resources department's mission to maximize the potential of our greatest asset - our employees - by providing responsive HR services and programs that promote a safe, inclusive, and inspiring workplace for all staff. Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and supplemental coverages.
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations through Paylocity; track employee eligibility; process monthly health insurance invoices; and support annual renewals, open enrollment, and the Annual Wellness Fair.
  • Oversee the setup, configuration, and maintenance of HRIS modules related to benefits, employee records, and compliance.
  • Maintain data integrity and accurate electronic records; prepare system reports and data analysis for internal and external stakeholders; and provide Paylocity support and training to managers and staff.
  • Administer FMLA, PFL, personal, medical, and other applicable leaves of absence.
  • Coordinate required documentation and process disability forms with third-party administrators to support timely benefit payments and accurate leave records.
  • Administer the Workers' Compensation program from initial incident reporting through claim resolution.
  • Process and maintain injury and claim documentation; coordinate with employees, managers, NYSIF, Friedlander, Club Safe, and other appropriate parties; track claim status, lost-time and return-to-work information; and maintain accurate records.
  • Lead the Safety Committee; maintain OSHA logs and the SDS master binder; coordinate safety supplies with Security; ensure completion of Corrective Action Forms (CAF); and support safety training and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate annual pension and benefit plan audits and ensure the accurate and timely preparation and submission of Forms 5500, 8955, and 5558, as applicable.
  • Support compliance of employee benefit programs with ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, IRS, and other applicable federal and state requirements, and remain current on regulatory changes.
  • Conduct benefits-related Onboarding for new hires and lead Employee Orientation.
  • Develop and facilitate Benefits Training and educational communications for employees and managers.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding insurance, retirement, leave, and related benefit programs.
  • Research and resolve benefit issues in coordination with insurance carriers, benefits brokers, and other vendors, and clearly explain plan provisions and processes to employees.
  • In collaboration with the DHR coordinate with benefits providers, brokers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators to ensure effective service delivery, resolve issues, and assist in identifying opportunities to improve plan administration and employee service.
  • In collaboration with the Payroll Manager, process 401(k) enrollments, loans, deferral changes, terminations, and other plan transactions, and support accurate retirement plan administration.
  • Lead the conversion of all hard-copy personnel files to secure electronic employee records.
  • Coordinate the scanning, indexing, and quality review of personnel documents; ensure electronic files are complete and accurate.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Human Resources and perform other HR-related duties as assigned to support department goals and organizational priorities.
