About The Position

We are a nonprofit pro bono law firm serving Southern Florida. Our mission is to provide high-quality, free civil legal advice, representation, and education to disadvantaged individuals in Broward County. We have over 125 employees, including 50+ attorneys. Each year, we help thousands regain control of their lives and build brighter futures. We focus on education, litigation, and collaboration to expand access to justice, identify community needs, and challenge systems negatively impacting the underserved.

Seeking an HR Attorney to provide legal counsel on all employment matters. Responsibilities include advising on employment law, handling employee disputes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting HR and management with strategic legal guidance.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and Florida Bar License (required).
• 5–10 years of proven experience as an Employment Lawyer (corporate or business setting preferred).
• Extensive knowledge of employment laws and legal procedures.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines.
• Strategic thinking and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

• Spanish or Creole language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Advise management on employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Review, draft, and update company policies and procedures for compliance.
• Coordinate with outside counsel on employment litigation matters.
• Recommend resolution strategies for employee disputes and complaints.
• Negotiate and draft employment contracts, severance agreements, and related documents.
• Advise on disciplinary actions, terminations, and sensitive employment issues.
• Conduct training sessions for HR and management on employment laws.
• Stay current on employment law changes and communicate updates to leadership.
• Maintain and update the employee manual as needed.
