About The Position

Under the direction of the Lead Houseperson and Section Supervisors, the Houseperson is responsible for cleaning assigned guest and employee areas of the hotel, as well as assisting Guest Room Attendants. This role involves maintaining cleanliness in various hotel areas, performing minor maintenance tasks, responding to guest requests, and stocking supplies. The position requires adherence to company policies, safety procedures, and a commitment to providing excellent guest service.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and comply with all company and departmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and guests.
  • Ability to read and communicate verbally in English and Spanish.
  • Must be self-motivated and detail-oriented.
  • Possess initiative and high energy level.
  • Knowledge of chemical use, OSHA regulations, and biohazard clean-up procedures.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Frequent standing, walking, repetitive use of both hands (light and firm/strong grasping, finger dexterity).
  • Near/far visual acuity, depth perception, field of vision, accommodation, and ability to see colors.
  • Requires simple reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Ability to perform simple tasks and coordination.
  • Must be able to follow instructions, influence others, meet time requirements, memorization skills, and use independent judgment.
  • Above average speech – both speaking and reading/writing English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Occasional reaching overhead, pushing/pulling over 100 lbs., lifting/carrying.
  • Seldom requires sitting, bending over, crouching, kneeling, crawling, climbing, balancing, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Dust, vacuum, and clean assigned areas including hallways, lobby, service and guest elevator tracks, vending areas, storage and supply areas, emergency stairwells, and exit areas.
  • Maintain ash urns in guest elevator lobbies throughout the shift.
  • Assist in minor maintenance such as changing light bulbs and unplugging toilets.
  • Report more serious problems to the Floor Supervisor/Housekeeping Office.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and deliver guest convenience items.
  • Collect soiled linen and trash from Guest Room Attendant (GRA) carts.
  • Physically stock and maintain linen and supply rooms.
  • Assist GRAs as assigned and deliver supplies to GRA carts, including full cleaning bottles.
  • Clean guest room glasses daily.
  • Perform heavy duty maintenance and cleaning as assigned.
  • Remove room service dishes from guest room hallways for prompt pick-up.
  • Check all lamps and fixtures in assigned areas for burned-out bulbs.
  • Understand and follow the Trailblazer Guide, housekeeping manual, and emergency/evacuation procedures.
  • Complete training of bloodborne pathogen procedures.
  • Attend regular departmental meetings as scheduled.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
