About The Position

The EVS Tech II reflects Northwestern Medicine’s mission, vision, and values, adheres to its Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with applicable policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards. The position cleans and maintains patient rooms, offices, public areas, treatment rooms, and other assigned areas, while supporting safety, confidentiality, effective service, and continuous improvement. This is a part-time evening position.

Requirements

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Ability to use the tracking and communication tools used by the department.
• Ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

• One to three years of environmental services experience in a healthcare or hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain patient rooms, offices, public areas, treatment rooms, and other assigned areas, including removing trash, changing bed linens, and sanitizing surfaces.
• Follow patient isolation and contact precaution policies and procedures when necessary.
• Stock paper items and other supplies in assigned areas as needed.
• Keep carts and equipment clean and in working condition, and store them appropriately.
• Promote workplace safety by using wet-floor signs and PPE, keeping carts and supplies attended, and using chemicals and equipment safely.
• Use appropriate chemicals at the correct dilution ratios and in properly labeled containers.
• Notify a supervisor of equipment needing repair and report safety hazards to a manager.
• Communicate issues to supervisors, including inability to complete scheduled work, and report observed deficiencies or work requests.
• Maintain professional relationships with hospital personnel and protect confidential patient information.
• Use the designated scripting model when communicating with customers.
• Use organizational and departmental resources efficiently and complete assigned work on schedule.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, cost reduction, streamlined processes, and service improvements.
• Present a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.
• Provide accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers, address concerns or direct them to appropriate resources, and help with directions.
• Use service recovery skills to resolve problems or service breakdowns.
• Demonstrate teamwork by assisting coworkers across departments and communicating effectively while respecting diverse opinions and contributions.
