About The Position

The Housekeeping Attendant regularly performs the full range of housekeeping services at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property. Work includes cleaning guest rooms, interior public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, and exterior spaces; vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing, moving items, polishing, removing debris and trash, and transporting clean and dirty linens and towels. The attendant uses hand and powered cleaning equipment and may perform laundry operations, minor repairs, and other related duties.

The role also involves maintaining guest privacy and security, providing welcoming guest service, reporting room and property conditions to a supervisor, following safety and security procedures, and completing deep-cleaning tasks as required. The attendant may assist with breakfast-bar setup and service, receive and move supplies, and travel to other lodging facilities if required.

Requirements

• No experience required.
• Moderate physical effort is required to move furniture and use hand or lightweight powered cleaning equipment.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• May be required to possess a valid state driver's license to travel to other lodging facilities within the normal scope of duties.
• May be required to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within six months of employment and other applicable certifications.

Responsibilities

• Clean guest rooms and other assigned areas, including bathrooms, kitchens, furnishings, walls, fixtures, and windows.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, waxers, and polishers.
• Move furniture and beds to clean under and behind them, and replace bed linens and room amenities.
• Clean and check room items and equipment, including luggage racks, hangers, televisions, alarm clocks, phones, irons, and ironing boards.
• Greet and welcome guests while maintaining outstanding guest relations and protecting their privacy and security.
• Clean corridors, stairways, guest laundry areas, patios, balconies, and exterior spaces such as parking lots and passageways.
• Perform scheduled and checkout-related deep cleaning, including refrigerator defrosting, window cleaning, and carpet shampooing or spot treatment.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in storage rooms and perform laundry operations at the facility.
• Communicate the status of cleaned rooms and other spaces to the supervisor or through the property management system.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and report major repair or replacement needs to the supervisor.
• Assist with loading and unloading vehicles and receiving, assembling, separating, storing, and delivering supplies or merchandise; use a hand truck and common hand tools when needed.
• Maintain responsibility for assigned keys and return them at the end of each shift.
• Immediately report unusual room conditions, guest-related circumstances, and lost-and-found items to the supervisor.
• If assigned, set up, replenish, and clean up the complimentary self-service breakfast bar, and obtain applicable food-handling certifications.
• Complete required safety and security training, follow NHG protocols, and apply blood-borne pathogen safety measures.
• Obtain required NHG housekeeping certification within six months of employment and other certifications as applicable.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
