About The Position

The Housekeeping Aide helps maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The role keeps facility areas free of obstacles, odors, and debris, supporting the health and comfort of residents. The position has no supervisory requirements.

The employee cleans and sanitizes common areas, resident rooms, and bathrooms; maintains floors and surfaces; handles trash; uses cleaning equipment and supplies safely; and keeps housekeeping carts and storage areas clean and organized. The role also involves reporting resident safety concerns and supply needs, providing good customer service, and completing work independently or as part of a team.

Requirements

• Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read and understand procedure and instruction manuals and directions.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to solve practical problems and handle concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain public and common areas, including lobbies, restrooms, drinking fountains, and floors.
• Clean and sanitize resident rooms and bathrooms regularly.
• Wipe down handrails and remove dirt, dust, and food from walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures, towel bars, and dispensers.
• Empty trash cans and replace liners as needed.
• Sweep and mop floors throughout the facility.
• Follow safety protocols, including using caution signage and storing chemicals securely.
• Operate cleaning equipment and use supplies according to manufacturer instructions.
• Keep housekeeping carts, equipment, and storage areas clean, organized, and sanitary.
• Immediately report resident safety concerns to the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing.
• Notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies need replenishment.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and a positive attitude.
• Manage time effectively and complete tasks efficiently.
• Work independently or as part of a team to meet facility standards.
