About The Position

The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all areas of Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital (SMH) and maintaining a neat and pleasant environment. The role includes cleaning exam and patient rooms, making beds, replenishing supplies, and following SMH policies. The aide also interacts and communicates with patients and demonstrates appropriateness in meeting age-specific objectives.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to follow written and oral directions.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Heart Saver CPR certification; certification may be obtained upon employment.

Nice To Haves

• One year of housekeeping experience in a hospital or institution is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and mop floors, both dry and wet, and vacuum.
• Dust and polish furniture, telephones, TV sets, and other items.
• Clean windows, sills, screens, and window coverings.
• Empty trash baskets and transport medical waste to designated areas.
• Empty shredders and transport recycled paper to designated areas.
• Scour and polish bathtubs, sinks, toilets, mirrors, and similar equipment.
• Polish stainless steel and clean and polish glass panels.
• Clean walls, floor vents, and oscillating fans.
• Replenish soap and paper products.
• Clean and sterilize beds and make them.
• Interact and communicate with patients.
• Demonstrate appropriateness in meeting age-specific objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
