About The Position

Distinctive Living is seeking a full-time Housekeeper for its Maumee Pointe Assisted Living and Memory Care facility. The Housekeeper handles housekeeping and laundry functions for the community, including apartment and common-area cleaning, laundry services, carpet care, and compliance with applicable regulatory standards. The role also includes communicating pertinent matters to the immediate supervisor and helping maintain a safe, clean, welcoming environment for residents and visitors.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least one year of experience in a cleaning or housekeeping role.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate verbally in person and over the phone.

Responsibilities

Clean assigned resident apartments, including dusting, vacuuming, changing sheets and linens, making beds, and cleaning bathroom fixtures and floors while respecting residents’ privacy and belongings.
Remove linens for cleaning, return them to residents, and make beds with clean linens according to residents’ preferences.
Log cleaning activities as required by procedures.
Change residents’ bedding and linens weekly; accommodate more frequent changes upon request for an additional fee.
Maintain sufficient linen inventory and schedule washing and drying to meet community needs.
Interact with residents in a friendly manner and provide meaningful attention; communicate concerns about residents’ health to management as appropriate.
Clean common areas, including entrances, reception areas, corridors, bathrooms, activity rooms, and the dining room, keeping them suitable for residents and visitors seven days a week.
Clean floors by sweeping, dusting, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting as needed; set up and remove appropriate caution and safety signs.
Clean carpets by vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
Clean public restrooms and wash, sanitize, or polish fixtures; remove water marks.
Remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces using appropriate cleaning and disinfecting solutions.
Handle hazardous cleaning supplies according to procedures and ensure accurate labeling.
Attend in-service education, on-the-job training, and other scheduled or directed training programs.
Respond to resident emergencies by contacting appropriate internal and external parties according to established protocols; assist with disaster management and evacuations when needed.
Maintain compliance with applicable local, state, federal, and licensing requirements, including HIPAA, OSHA, and applicable labor laws; promptly discuss regulator-raised issues with the management company.
Work safely, bring unsafe actions to the Executive Director’s attention, and comply with Safety Committee standards.
Follow required procedures for workplace injuries, including treatment, investigation, and return to work, and communicate with the supervisor as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Foster teamwork, show initiative in overcoming obstacles, assist others beyond assigned responsibilities, and contribute positively to co-workers, residents, and visitors.
Develop basic organizational knowledge to answer basic questions.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
