About The Position

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) is a dynamic university designated as both a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) with approximately 11,000 students. The university employs over 1,400 full-time and 2,000 part-time Islanders. TAMU-CC is part of the Texas A&M University System and is located on a 240-acre island on Corpus Christi Bay. This Housekeeper position is responsible for cleaning designated areas assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. The role involves vacuuming, mopping, emptying trash, and cleaning bathrooms in resident rooms, hallways, and common areas.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to communicate with clear written and verbal messages
  • Ability to present a professional image
  • Knowledge of safety equipment usage (e.g. AED, fire extinguishers, etc.), proper cleaning methods, and safety measures essential to the work environment
  • Ability to work outdoors in temperature extremes
  • Ability to work with high noise levels
  • Ability to repetitively lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous professional cleaning experience is preferred
  • Previous housekeeping experience in residence life or college housing

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the cleanliness of assigned building and rooms.
  • Vacuuming carpet areas including resident rooms, hallways, and common areas.
  • Mopping and cleaning tile areas including resident rooms and common areas.
  • Emptying trash in their designated area.
  • Cleaning bathrooms including tub, shower, and toilet areas.
  • Seeking out areas requiring cleaning and taking initiative to complete the task.
  • Restocking custodial supplies.
  • Contributing to the team and exhibiting professionalism with students, fellow employees, and others.
  • Adhering to established procedures to provide a safe working environment.
  • Reporting maintenance concerns via work order requests.
  • Performing other related duties as requested and assigned.
