About The Position

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining facility cleanliness and helping ensure visitors, residents, families, and staff have a positive impression. Duties include cleaning common areas, completing project and seasonal cleaning as assigned, and performing weekly cleaning and laundry in residents’ rooms. The position works indoors in a climate-controlled environment most of the time and follows an assigned, rotating schedule that includes weekends. The employee must be able to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or overnights.

Requirements

At least 1 year of housekeeping or cleaning experience.
Ability to make responsible choices and decisions and act in the resident’s best interest.
Ability to motivate oneself and work independently.
Ability to be flexible and work with other staff and residents.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to read, write, spell, perform basic math, speak, and understand English.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals.
Strong work ethic.
Ability to bend and squat to pick up debris and trash containers and to use cleaning tools and products.
Ability to see objects within 35 feet and identify areas requiring cleaning.
Ability to interpret colors to read warnings, labels, and wires.
Ability to move, push, pull, and/or lift objects weighing 10 to 25 pounds.
Ability to use hands and arms for simple grasping, pushing, and pulling while sweeping, mopping, and using containers of cleaning solutions or chemicals.
Ability to walk, stoop, bend, lift, and carry objects.
Ability to walk and/or stand for prolonged periods.
Ability to speak clearly and make oneself understood in face-to-face interactions.
Ability to see objects closely to read directions, instructions, and chemical warnings.
Ability to hear normal sounds and voices with some background noise to receive verbal instructions, answer telephones, and communicate with others.
Ability to work various shifts, weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or overnights.

Responsibilities

Provide consistent, quality work to residents and staff.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area and cleaning cart.
Follow job routines and instructions according to the assigned housekeeping schedule.
Ensure resident apartments and laundry are clean and sanitized as scheduled.
Maintain inventory for daily needs and notify the supervisor of supply issues.
Help keep common areas neat, clean, and safe.
Follow the daily schedule to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Vacuum hallways, elevators, and furniture.
Wash inside glass doors and windows.
Sweep and/or mop floors.
Clean restrooms and stock supplies.
Dust.
Remove rubbish and trash.
Wash and polish woodwork and baseboards.
Perform seasonal duties as assigned.
