About The Position

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy patient care environment in a mental health hospital. This is a full-time evening-shift position, scheduled from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., with a pay rate of $19–$21 per hour. The role performs cleaning and custodial work throughout the facility, including disinfecting rooms and equipment, caring for floors and furnishings, laundering soiled linens, and maintaining cleaning supplies. The Housekeeper follows infection-control measures, stores equipment and supplies properly, and prepares rooms for meetings and facility functions. Other duties may be assigned as circumstances require.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous housekeeping experience in a commercial, clinical, or healthcare environment preferred.
Valid state driver’s license where required by the facility.
CPR certification and de-escalation and restraint certification required; training is available upon hire and offered by the facility.
First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

Perform cleaning and custodial tasks to maintain the facility’s general upkeep, sanitation, and cleanliness.
Disinfect rooms, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and supplies using appropriate cleaning processes and germicides.
Move and arrange furniture, turn mattresses, clean kitchens and cooking utensils, and sweep, scrub, wax, or polish floors as needed.
Launder soiled linens as directed.
Maintain adequate cleaning supplies for department or unit use.
Clean and store equipment and supplies properly after each shift.
Prepare rooms for meetings and arrange decorations and furniture for facility functions.
Stock supplies as needed.
Follow all infection-control measures.
Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
