About The Position

The Housekeeper maintains the facility in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner, serving residents and supporting an independent lifestyle throughout all levels of care. The role performs cleaning tasks according to daily assignments in resident rooms, recreation areas, bathrooms, entrances and exits, hallways, stairs, elevators, and other assigned areas. Duties include routine cleaning and disinfecting, waste disposal, vacant-room cleaning, and terminal cleaning when residents are discharged or transferred.

Requirements

Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of high school.
Ability to work in a health care and Continuing Care Retirement Community environment.
Ability to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies weighing a minimum of 50 pounds throughout the workday.
Ability to bend, turn, and reach overhead and below the knees throughout the workday.
Ability to stand and walk for 80% of the workday.
Ability to see and hear, or use prosthetics adequately, to fully perform the position's tasks, including use of supplies and equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
Empty and sanitize trash cans where appropriate.
Clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, and room heating and cooling units in resident rooms, recreation areas, and other assigned locations.
Clean, sanitize or disinfect, and polish bathroom fixtures.
Clean windows and mirrors in resident rooms, recreation areas, bathrooms, and entrance and exit ways daily or as assigned.
Clean floors by sweeping, dusting, damp or wet mopping, and disinfecting; clean carpets by vacuuming, spot cleaning, deodorizing, extracting, and dry cleaning.
Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, and spot cleaning.
Remove dirt, dust, grime, and film from surfaces using proper cleaning and disinfecting solutions.
Clean hallways, stairs, and elevators as assigned.
Discard waste and trash into proper receptacles and re-line trash baskets with the correct-sized liners.
Clean vacant rooms as assigned (daily in HC and weekly in other areas).
Perform terminal cleaning procedures as instructed when a resident is discharged or transferred to another room or area.
Perform other duties as assigned.
