About The Position

We are a family of five seeking a Household Manager & Family Assistant to help maintain our home's organization and streamline daily logistics. This part-time role focuses on kitchen organization, meal preparation, laundry, and general household upkeep. The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-directed, and possesses a warm, professional demeanor. You will be instrumental in creating order and ease in our busy household, allowing the family to focus on connection and presence. Responsibilities include managing household supplies, coordinating with cleaners and contractors, and providing light administrative and pet care support.

Requirements

  • Maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Reliable transportation (mileage reimbursement provided for errands as needed)
  • Comfortable with dogs
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  • Current vaccinations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Daily resets and prep home for cleaners
  • Light tidying (dishes, dishwasher, surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas, beds, toys as needed)
  • Maintain household organization systems
  • Seasonal swaps (clothing, décor, bedding)
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs
  • As needed: event/holiday/guest prep
  • Packing/unpacking for travel
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, etc.
  • Perform occasional deep cleaning tasks including refrigerator, oven, and baseboards
  • Clean area rugs every few months using family's rug cleaner
  • Complete organizational projects for toys, gear, cabinets, and potentially garage
  • Refresh garage/mudroom/entry
  • Restock pantry/fridge/household supplies
  • Manage running household supply lists
  • Manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon/Costco/Target)
  • Occasionally: returns, dry cleaning, grocery store
  • Mail and package handling
  • Breakdown boxes
  • Wash and prepare fresh produce for family use
  • Order groceries and stock multiple refrigerators and freezers
  • Prep ingredients for dinner, including chopping vegetables and defrosting proteins
  • Maintain clean and organized kitchen surfaces and counters
  • Wash/fold/organize laundry (clothes and linens)
  • Occasionally: Ironing/steaming and special garment care
  • Linen rotation (hand towels)
  • Maintain tidy and well stocked laundry areas
  • Light supervision / back-up childcare
  • Prep backpacks/clothing for activities
  • Kid-related errands
  • Maintain awareness of family calendar and upcoming events (including household schedules; skylight experience a plus)
  • Process papers from children's backpacks and upload important notices to digital calendar
  • Maintain physical filing system organized by family member and household categories
  • Receipt/budget tracking for expenses incurred as house manager
  • Scan and upload receipts for budget tracking
  • Feeding dog (making sure that there’s fresh food and water)
  • Let the dog in/out as needed
  • Vet/grooming scheduling
  • Administer medications
  • Maintain pet supplies
  • Schedule maintenance
  • Fueling/cleaning/organizing vehicles (including car seats)
  • Oversee cleaners/contractors/landscapers
  • Research/coordinate repairs and quotes
  • Seasonal property maintenance
  • Manage outdoor spaces
