Household Manager & Family Assistant (with Housekeeping & Meal Prep Support)
About The Position
This is a full-time Household Manager & Family Assistant role supporting a family of six, including four young children and a dog. The position is designed to be the "behind-the-scenes engine" of the household, focusing on keeping the home tidy, laundry managed, and the kitchen flowing. The goal is to create a calm, organized, and welcoming environment, allowing the nanny to focus on childcare and the overall household to run with more ease. The family is seeking someone to build a long-term relationship with, who is thoughtful, dependable, and willing to grow with them, contributing ideas and becoming a valued part of the household team.
Requirements
- Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
- Comfortable driving family vehicle to transport children
- Maintain a smoke-free environment
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English as required to perform the essential functions of the position
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Nice To Haves
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Create and/or Maintain household organization systems
- Daily resets and prep home for cleaners (including trash and recycling removal)
- Ensuring bathrooms and kitchen are consistently tidy and stocked (paper products, soaps, etc.)
- Light tidying (dishes, surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas)-housecleaners come 2x weekly
- Seasonal swaps (clothing, décor, bedding)
- Change batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, etc.
- Daily preparation of healthy family meals/snacks
- Grocery shopping using home delivery via Whole Foods/Instacart/Door Dash
- Organize and put away groceries
- Preparing school lunches for school-age children
- Daily loading and unloading of the dishwasher, including baby bottles
- Kitchen clean-up and maintenance (particularly after mealtimes)
- Wash/fold/organize laundry for family members
- Folding, ironing, steaming, and putting clothes away
- Maintaining tidy, well-stocked laundry areas
- Linen rotation and bed linen care
- Restock pantry/fridge/household supplies
- Manage running household supply lists
- Manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon/Costco/Target)
- Mail and package handling
- Breakdown boxes
- Pick-ups/drop-offs as needed
- Light supervision / back-up childcare
- Prep backpacks/clothing/snacks
- Kid-related errands
- Refresh garage/mudroom/drop zone/entry
- Organizational projects (toys, gear, clothes closets, etc.)
- Receiving contractors and vendors at the home-serving as the day-to-day point of contact
- Seasonal property maintenance
- Manage outdoor spaces (patio tidying, outdoor furniture maintenance, outdoor toys, etc.)
- Household calendar awareness
- Refilling water bowl throughout day
- Letting dog in and out of house as needed
- Dog sitting as needed
