About The Position

We are a laid-back family of five (plus a dog and cat) seeking a proactive, kind, and organized Household Manager & Family Assistant to help keep our household running smoothly. Both parents work from home, and one parent's new role requires more hours and focus, necessitating support to ensure the household functions efficiently. We value someone who can create practical organization systems that fit our lifestyle, communicate thoughtfully, and build rapport with our children. The primary focus will be on healthy meal/snack prep, laundry, and errands, with flexibility to grow with our family's evolving needs. We aim for calmer and more connected evenings, starting with daytime support.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain household organization systems.
  • Complete daily resets and prep the home for bi-weekly cleaning service.
  • Perform light tidying, including dishes, kitchen surfaces, and vacuuming high-traffic areas.
  • Manage seasonal swaps for clothing, décor, and bedding.
  • Sort through outgrown children's items and prepare for donation drop-offs.
  • Occasionally assist with event/holiday/guest prep, indoor plant care, and packing/unpacking for travel.
  • Prep four healthy dinners per week.
  • Prepare daily school snacks/lunches for three children.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanup and maintenance.
  • Wash, fold, and organize laundry and linens for the entire family, including occasional steaming and special garment care.
  • Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas.
  • Perform occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards).
  • Refresh garage/entry and undertake organizational projects (toys, gear, pantry, closets).
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
  • Manage running household supply lists.
  • Run errands, including returns, dry cleaning, and occasional grocery shopping.
  • Manage mail and packages, including breaking down boxes.
  • Prep backpacks and meals/snacks for children.
  • Handle kid-related errands such as picking up school supplies and birthday gifts.
  • Potential for occasional date night coverage.
  • Oversee cleaners, contractors, landscapers, and vendors.
  • Research and coordinate repairs and quotes.
  • Manage seasonal property maintenance and outdoor spaces.
  • Assist with travel planning and logistics.
  • Maintain awareness of the family calendar, including household schedules.
  • Track receipts and budget for expenses incurred as house manager.
  • Coordinate events and appointments.
