About The Position

The Household Manager / Family Assistant will provide consistent support to a couple living and working from home on a 45-acre hobby farm in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. The home includes two large dogs, two horses, and barn cats. The family is seeking a warm, grounded, organized, and proactive person who can work independently, communicate well, adapt when plans change, and take pride in keeping the household running smoothly. The role involves moving between indoor household care, organization projects, local errands, vendor coordination, and light outdoor and barn upkeep. The position is part-time for 12–16 hours per week, generally two days per week in approximately 6–8-hour shifts, with potential to grow to 18–24 hours per week. Additional hours or work may be available for someone comfortable doing or learning occasional horse-stall or paddock cleaning and other barn projects. Core hours and days will be confirmed with the family. Compensation is $28–$32 per hour, commensurate with experience, and the start date is ASAP. The candidate must be comfortable on a large farm property with multiple animals, navigating multiple flights of stairs and uneven terrain, and lifting up to 50 pounds for limited periods. Work in the home must be fragrance-free, and the environment must remain smoke-free. Candidates need reliable personal transportation and authorization to work in the United States. They must be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and CDC guidelines, including Tdap, MMR, seasonal influenza, and COVID-19, subject to applicable legal accommodations. The role requires a background check. Household responsibilities include daily home resets, tidying, dish management, maintaining organization systems, caring for indoor plants, helping prepare for occasional hosting and holiday events, monitoring the household calendar, and maintaining an organized kitchen. The assistant will handle laundry and linens, including dog bedding, and perform occasional deep-cleaning and household-equipment cleaning. Other work includes maintaining inventory and supplies, managing orders and subscriptions, preparing returns, completing occasional local errands, retrieving mail and packages, recycling boxes, and coordinating with cleaners, contractors, and service vendors. Outdoor and barn tasks include porch and garage upkeep, light barn tidying, cleaning animal bowls and automatic water dispensers, and light seasonal landscaping. Rare meal-preparation tasks may be requested.
