About The Position

This position is based in a retail store environment. Duties include work in the warehouse area, which can involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, dust, and the physical handling of goods. The role requires standing and walking for extended periods, frequent bending and lifting, and the ability to safely move merchandise and materials. Weekend and evening work required. The employee will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties requested by the employee's supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to efficiently and effectively perform all functions of the job.
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and reach for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Use of both hands.
  • Good manual and finger dexterity.
  • Ability to visually inspect and eliminate non-saleable donations.
  • A high school degree (or its equivalent) is desirable, though an equivalent amount of training and experience will be considered in lieu of this requirement.
  • Proficient in computer use including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and internet use.
  • Ability to count, add, and subtract.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Ability to follow all safety rules.
  • Must be able to operate a pricing gun and price merchandise appropriately.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of collectibles, antiques or specialized items strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sort wares based on store criteria.
  • Examine product for condition.
  • Ensure the best possible price is listed on each item.
  • Process hard goods (wares, electrical, furniture, books, shoes, accessories).
  • Minimize trash and salvage as applicable.
  • Separate materials according to category (sales, salvage, seasonal goods).
  • Identify items that are priced by management (high value or unique items).
  • Price identified items as assigned by management.
  • Identify items that could be sold through ecommerce.
  • Price items accurately, balancing maximizing price with providing true value to the customer.
  • Maintain productivity by meeting minimum production numbers.
  • Calculate and record the number of pieces processed.
  • Help in donations or other areas as needed.
  • Participate in special projects related to wares.
  • Be responsive and respectful towards others within the organization.
  • Promote internal and external customer service through effective communication.
  • Display appropriate behavior (courteous and respectful interactions) with fellow employees.
  • Follow established processes according to Kaizen standards.
  • Consistently follow established safety rules.
  • Report safety accidents and hazards when known and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
  • Utilize the proper equipment and supplies in meeting the safety standards.
  • Maintain workstation supplies.
  • Complete work station 5 minute clean up daily.
  • Demonstrate regard for Goodwill’s assets including property and equipment.
