About The Position

We are a busy, active household of four seeking a reliable and energetic House Manager & Family Assistant to provide part-time support. This role involves managing household tasks and providing childcare for two young girls (toddler and preschool age). The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and genuinely enjoy engaging with children, becoming a trusted part of our family's rhythm. We value consistency, structure, and a warm, sensitive approach, especially during this transition period as our current caregiver is moving. This is a long-term role for someone looking to build a strong relationship with our family.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Clean driving record required
  • Must be comfortable transporting children (family vehicle provided for driving children)
  • Must be comfortable working with dogs
  • Comfortable supervising children near and in a pool
  • Experienced with young children
  • Naturally inclined toward organization, appreciates structure
  • Comfortable operating independently, using good judgment, and prioritizing what needs attention throughout the day
  • Playful, patient, and truly engaged with children
  • Empathy, patience, and emotional awareness
  • Understands that building trust with young children takes time

Nice To Haves

  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Afternoon preschool pickup (family vehicle and car seats provided)
  • After school supervision and childcare, including snack prep and active play engagement
  • Drive children to scheduled activities (swim, gymnastics, dance) and playdates
  • Support school-to-dinner transition; feed children dinner when the family is not eating together
  • Occasional flexibility for bath and bedtime assistance, date nights, school holidays, and schedule changes as needed
  • Lead engaging activities such as art projects and early literacy exercises
  • Pack and unpack lunchboxes daily; maintain and restock backpacks and school supplies
  • Kid-related errands as needed (restocking school extras, change of clothes, supplies, etc.)
  • Maintain existing household organizational systems; reorganize and refine over time as needed
  • Daily resets of kitchen, playroom, and children's rooms
  • Light tidying throughout the day: loading and unloading dishwasher, and keeping up with dishes, wiping surfaces and tables including children's seating
  • Tidy and maintain outdoor spaces, including children's play areas
  • Seasonal swaps of clothing and decor
  • Assist with event and guest prep (children's birthdays, holidays, visitors)
  • Support packing and unpacking for family travel, focused on children's items
  • Occasional deep-cleaning tasks as time allows (fridge, baseboards, oven)
  • Refresh high-use areas such as mudroom and entryway as needed
  • Organizational projects for toys, household closets and cabinets, and children's closets and drawers
  • Maintain a running list of pantry, fridge, and household supplies that need restocking
  • Additional grocery errands as needed (i.e., Trader Joe’s); family handles the primary weekly grocery order
  • Returns, dry cleaning, and gift-related errands
  • Mail and package sorting; breaking down and disposing of boxes
  • Light meal prep, including chopping vegetables, assembling or heating children’s dinners, and batch-prepping kid-friendly items such as muffins and snacks (keeping the family’s dietary preferences in mind)
  • Prepare school lunches daily
  • Kitchen cleanup and maintenance throughout the day
  • Support in washing, drying, and folding children’s laundry including occasional pool towels
  • Maintain organization of children’s drawers and closets
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area
  • Occasional outdoor bathroom breaks for the family dog
  • Administer medications occasionally when family is away
  • Maintain pet supplies
  • Fuel the family vehicle when noticed to be low or when asked
  • Be present and available when contractors or service providers are on-site
  • Research and coordinate repair quotes and vendor services as needed
