House Manager & Family Assistant
About The Position
We're a busy, warm, and close-knit family of four — two parents who work remotely in fast-paced careers, a preschool-aged kiddo with a full schedule of activities, and a brand-new baby who joined us earlier this year. Life in our home is full, fun, and always moving. We love to travel, spend time outdoors, hit up Costco, explore our city, and most importantly — be present with each other. We currently have weekly house cleaners, a gardener, and an au pair arriving soon to support with infant care. What we're looking for is someone who can step in as the glue that holds the behind-the-scenes together, so we can close our laptops and actually be with our kids at the end of the day. We want this person to feel like an extension of our family — someone who takes ownership, fits naturally into our rhythm, and helps our home run smoothly without us having to ask. This role is starting part-time, but we see real room for it to grow over time. We're looking for someone who wants to build something with us. You're warm, high-energy, and genuinely love being around young children. You bring a positive, upbeat presence to everything you do and know how to connect with kids in a way that's playful, creative, and nurturing. You're the kind of person who walks into a space, spots what needs to happen, and handles it — without being asked twice. Self-directed and adaptable, you shift easily between tasks and personalities, and you thrive in a household where no two days look exactly alike. You communicate directly and honestly, know how to hold appropriate professional boundaries, and understand that discretion and trust are non-negotiables in a private home. You lead an active, healthy lifestyle, and you're just as comfortable going on a park adventure with kids as you are organizing a closet, prepping snacks, or mapping out a family trip to Europe. The primary goal of this role is to reduce the family’s mental load. We are looking for someone who doesn’t simply complete a list of tasks, but notices what is coming up, anticipates what the family will need, and proactively keeps household logistics moving.
Requirements
- Candidates are required to be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (including influenza), subject to applicable legal accommodations.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Reliable personal transportation required.
- Must maintain a smoke-free environment.
- Fragrance-free environment; candidate should be comfortable working fragrance-free.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities
- Provide gap childcare and backup coverage when the au pair is unavailable, including school pickups and drop-offs
- Assist with prepping backpacks, clothing, snacks, and kid-related logistics
- Coordinate household and childcare logistics with our au pair, helping ensure schedules, supplies, activities and family expectations are communicated and organized.
- Step in for light supervision as needed during transitions or parental travel
- Set up and manage the household's digital calendar and scheduling systems, including the family's Skylight calendar
- Research and coordinate summer camp enrollments and family activity planning, track registration deadlines and proactively flag upcoming decisions.
- Manage travel planning and logistics, including research for domestic and international trips
- Coordinate family appointments, events, and household scheduling
- Assist with receipt and light budget tracking as needed
- Create, implement, and maintain household organization systems — including baby and infant areas, playroom, and closets
- Prepare home for weekly cleaners; complete daily resets and surface tidying as needed
- Support coordination of donation drop-offs as kids outgrow clothing and gear
- Assist with event, holiday, and guest prep
- Support packing and unpacking for travel
- Support upcoming household move, including packing and unpacking boxes
- Occasional deep cleans of fridge, oven, and high-use appliances
- Appliance upkeep including lint trap cleaning, coffee maker descaling, and humidifier and air purifier filter maintenance
- Organizational projects for toys, baby gear, and kids' items through different seasons
- Refresh of entryway, mudroom, and garage areas as needed
- Wash, fold, and organize adult laundry
- Handle linen and towel rotation
- Steaming of garments (no ironing required); care for any specialty items
- Prep laundry and wardrobe for travel
- Keep laundry area tidy and well-stocked
- Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies; manage running shopping lists
- Manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)
- Handle occasional errands including returns, dry cleaning, and gift shopping (roughly once a month)
- Break down cardboard boxes; creatively repurpose for kids' activities when possible
- Stock and organize the fridge with fresh, washed produce and healthy snacks
- Provide increased meal support during periods of parental travel, including occasional full meal prep
- Support with kid lunch prep and snack preparation
- Maintain awareness of household dietary needs and allergies; keep restricted ingredients out of cross-contact situations
- Maintain a clean, organized kitchen
