About The Position

This is a part-time position, approximately 25-30 hours per week, with potential for growth, located in Lake Forest, IL. The role involves supporting a busy family of five with three teenagers and four dogs. The position also involves supporting the family through a major home renovation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare healthy meals and snacks for the family 4-5 days per week.
  • Batch prep proteins, grains, and produce for easy grab-and-go options.
  • Grocery shop in coordination with family preferences.
  • Restock food items and maintain organization of pantry and fridge.
  • Follow and enforce strict dietary requirements, including allergies to nuts and seafood.
  • Clean and reset the kitchen after meal prep.
  • Maintain indoor plants in the kitchen.
  • Maintain and improve household organization systems throughout the home.
  • Perform daily resets and light tidying (dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas).
  • Prepare home for cleaning staff visits.
  • Create a comprehensive home reference binder.
  • Proactively handle small household tasks (replacing batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors).
  • Assist with seasonal décor swaps and holiday setup.
  • Wash, fold, and organize laundry, and support teenagers in building laundry management habits.
  • Perform ironing, steaming, and special garment care.
  • Rotate linens and refresh as needed.
  • Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas.
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain running household supply lists.
  • Manage household orders and subscriptions.
  • Handle Costco bulk storage area organization and restocking.
  • Run miscellaneous errands (returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping).
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs.
  • Break down and recycle boxes and packaging.
  • Provide backup transportation for teens as needed.
  • Provide a calm, capable adult presence when teens are home.
  • Remind one teen to take daily medication as needed.
  • Assist with calendar awareness and help coordinate household tasks, including teen chores.
  • Help set up and maintain the family's shared digital calendar system (Skylight).
  • Option to provide occasional overnight supervision for parents to get away.
  • Feed and walk dogs as needed.
  • Schedule vet and grooming appointments.
  • Administer monthly preventative medications as requested.
  • Maintain awareness of pet supply levels.
  • Keep family vehicles fueled, clean, and organized.
  • Serve as a point of contact for vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Research and coordinate repairs and quotes.
  • Keep outdoor common spaces tidy as needed.
  • Perform occasional deep cleaning (refrigerator, oven, baseboards).
  • Refresh mudroom and entryway areas.
  • Clean and maintain humidifiers and air purifiers.
  • Assist with major organizational projects, especially related to the home renovation.
