About The Position

The Hotel Valet Attendant, described in the posting as a Guest Service Associate, provides attentive, friendly, and efficient hospitality services. The role parks and retrieves guest vehicles safely and promptly and assists with luggage services during guest arrivals and departures where applicable. It also supports guest needs by providing directions and information, handling requests, and explaining parking procedures and rates.

The position follows established practices and procedures, with work checked or verified frequently. The employee has control only over resources available to them. Most work is performed outdoors, potentially for the entire shift, and may involve exposure to extreme heat and cold. Travel of up to 5% may be required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license for the state of employment, or within a commutable distance from that state, as applicable.
• One month of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
• Ability to read and write standard English and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic, including calculations using American money, and understand 24-hour and military time systems and rates applicable to elapsed time.
• Ability to perform parallel parking.
• Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including extended periods of sitting or standing, movement and lifting requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to operate a manual transmission is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a pleasant, friendly, and professional demeanor with guests, co-workers, and clients; acknowledge and greet guests within five feet and use guests’ last names.
• Use the salutation of the day, welcome guests, follow Towne Park phone etiquette, and remain in designated areas when not completing tasks.
• Park and retrieve vehicles slowly and cautiously; assist with bell services and luggage storage; open vehicle and hotel doors for guests.
• Assist guests with directions, taxis, reservations, and other inquiries; provide information about facility outlets, meeting rooms, amenities, and local attractions.
• Deliver messages, items, and guest amenities as requested, and shuttle guests to locations approved by the property.
• Explain parking rates and vehicle retrieval procedures to guests upon arrival.
• Issue claim checks after receiving vehicle keys and collect claim checks before issuing keys.
• Complete and maintain vehicle ticket information, including key tags, guest folios, vehicle locations, damage surveys, and claim-check receipts; record the location on key tags after parking vehicles.
• Calculate and collect revenue for vehicles when needed.
