About The Position

The Hotel Maintenance Technician, also known as a Line Engineer, is responsible for keeping all equipment in good repair with minimal downtime. This role involves performing day-to-day maintenance of the hotel under the direction of Engineering Management and supporting the improvement of engineering services for both guests and associates.

Responsibilities

  • Report to work on time and in full uniform.
  • Train and instruct other staff members by sharing knowledge and skills.
  • Operate as an independent mechanic by analyzing problems, identifying courses of action, and implementing solutions with available resources to a high degree of quality.
  • Keep accurate completion and task records in project files.
  • Set an example of continuous self-development.
  • Perform maintenance tasks including plunging toilets, unclogging drains, and repairing hardware, plumbing, and electrical equipment such as lamps and air conditioners.
  • Clean, lubricate, protect, and maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel.
  • Ensure all tools are returned to the shop and properly stored.
  • Protect and maintain assigned tool pouch and its tools.
  • Monitor systems to be fully informed of their operation and handle emergencies.
  • Have a working knowledge of fire sprinkler and emergency power systems.
  • Observe and analyze energy and utilities usage to find ways to conserve energy and report ideas to Engineering Management.
  • Be available for emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect guests and associates, preserve the building and its systems, and return the building to normal operating status.
  • Inform Engineering Management of any emergencies.
  • Be aware of all existing departmental Job Safety Analysis and strive to work in an accident-free manner, creating a safe work environment.
  • Continuously look for and immediately correct hazardous conditions that could endanger associates or guests.
  • Read, log, track, and interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units.
  • Maintain a thorough log of daily activities and problems, ensuring this information is passed on to other shifts.
  • Clean all engineering areas as directed by Engineering Management.
  • Work in a neat and efficient manner, keeping work areas clean and well organized.
  • Serve as otherwise directed or needed to help maintain the effective and efficient operation of the hotel.
  • Complete all assigned work in a safe and professional manner.
  • Maintain communication with supervisors to ensure needed materials, tools, and supplies are available or on order.
  • Follow up on any items on back order.
  • Keep supervisor updated on assignments.
  • Provide training and technical advice to other engineers as needed or requested.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times.
  • Maintain the hotel facility and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
