About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining the hotel's facilities, equipment, and building systems to ensure a safe, comfortable, and exceptional experience for guests and employees. The Engineer/Technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, refrigeration, and general building systems while responding promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations. Working closely with all hotel departments, the Engineer/Technician plays a vital role in protecting the property's physical assets and ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and in compliance with company standards and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to communicate in English (preferred).
  • Ability to lift more than 50 lbs. and safely climb ladders.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Mexican, Canadian, or U.S. citizen.
  • Professional License (Cédula Profesional) in hand (Engineering or related technical field).
  • University degree and academic transcript in hand (Engineering or related technical field).

Nice To Haves

  • 2–3 years of hotel maintenance or related maintenance experience.
  • Experience working with commercial building systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Trade certification or license in one or more of the following: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Mechanical Maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on hotel equipment, guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
  • Inspect HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, mechanical, and life safety systems to identify potential issues before they become major repairs.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and ensure equipment operates efficiently.
  • Diagnose and repair issues involving HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures and piping, electrical systems, mechanical equipment, refrigerators and ice machines, doors, locks, and windows, furniture and fixtures.
  • Perform minor carpentry, drywall, painting, and general maintenance repairs throughout the property.
  • Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests while maintaining the highest level of customer service.
  • Conduct daily inspections of guestrooms, public spaces, meeting rooms, and mechanical areas.
  • Ensure all building systems remain operational and comply with company standards.
  • Assist with renovation projects and equipment installations when required.
  • Respond immediately to emergency maintenance situations, including fire alarm activations, power outages, water leaks, equipment failures, and other building-related emergencies.
  • Follow OSHA regulations and all company safety policies.
  • Safely operate maintenance equipment, power tools, ladders, and machinery.
  • Properly handle, store, and dispose of chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at all times.
  • Complete maintenance work orders accurately and on time.
  • Maintain records of inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment performance.
  • Report recurring maintenance issues and recommend long-term solutions.
  • Work closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and other departments to ensure smooth hotel operations.
  • Assist fellow Engineer/Technicianing team members as needed.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
