About The Position

Café Boulud is currently looking for a talented and dynamic Full-Time Host who shares our passion for excellence and who infuses enthusiasm into everything they do! Chef Daniel Boulud brings modern French dining with classic technique to Toronto at Café Boulud, a French restaurant and brasserie offering bistro-inspired cuisine and signature rotisserie dishes. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch menus celebrate French classics with a Canadian twist. By nature of the position, the position is the guests’ first impression of the restaurant and bar. They greet guests promptly, courteously, graciously with eye contact and a smile. Utilizing Open Table, the individual takes reservations, reviews the daily reservation book and has the ability to seat guests with/without reservations. They have a complete working knowledge of the menus, menu ingredients and what is unavailable for that day. A principle role within the restaurant and bar, the Host is familiar with server stations, their daily assignments, their personal timing patterns and their maximum workload capacity. The Host is also familiar with frequent guests and knows their names and preferences.

Requirements

  • Excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and spoken English.
  • Continuous standing for the majority of the shift.
  • Confident, outgoing personality and a can-do approach to any request.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work a variety of shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Smart Serve certification is a must.
  • Legal work authorization in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of previous Host experience in a fast-paced food and beverage operation, ideally in a luxury or fine dining establishment.
  • Exceptional communication skills and command of English language.
  • Additional language is an asset for career growth.
  • Completion of Post Secondary Education in Hospitality or related field is an asset.

Responsibilities
