About The Position
The Host/Hostess at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai helps shape the guest experience by providing exceptional knowledge of the Resort and exemplifying the Golden Rule in each interaction. The role seats guests promptly according to party size and preference; manages the host stand, reservations, seating chart, and cover count; and coordinates with managers and front-of-house staff to maintain table inventory. The Host/Hostess also answers telephone calls, takes reservations, shares information about restaurant and hotel services, anticipates and responds to guest needs, recognizes regular guests, and maintains knowledge and presentation of menus and daily specials. Legal work authorization in the United States is required, as is a Hawaii State Department of Health TB clearance card for food-and-beverage work.
Requirements
- Six to twelve months of restaurant, food-and-beverage, or equivalent experience.
- Legal work authorization in the United States.
- Obtain a Tuberculosis (TB) clearance card as required by the Hawaii State Department of Health for food-and-beverage work.
- Weekend and holiday availability required.
Responsibilities
- Seat guests promptly at tables set for the party size and according to guest preferences.
- Set up the host/hostess stand and review the guest reservation book.
- Recommend room setup and maintain the restaurant station chart and cover count, taking account of each server’s maximum workload capacity and Four Seasons service standards.
- Communicate floor needs with the manager and front-of-house service staff to reset tables and maintain inventory for incoming reservations.
- Answer telephones according to Four Seasons standards, take reservations, and provide information about the restaurant or other hotel services.
- Anticipate guest needs, respond to inquiries or problems, recognize regular guests by name, and use guests’ names consistently.
- Inspect and maintain daily menus for quality, condition, and appearance.
- Develop working knowledge of menu items and daily specials for taking to-go orders.
