About The Position

The Host/Hostess is responsible for seating guests in the dining room and handling customer service situations as they arise. The position helps create an enjoyable dining experience and promotes a safe, clean, and neat environment for guests and associates. The Host/Hostess may assist with service, supervise dining-room food-service associates, help train new team members, and support special events or functions. The role requires sensitivity and confidentiality when handling personal or medical information and knowledge of emergency safety procedures.

Requirements

• Previous hosting experience is preferred.
• Demonstrate exceptional communication skills.
• Get along well with others and demonstrate flexibility and patience, with an interest in people.
• Be able to perform the position’s essential functions satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Promptly and warmly greet guests and direct them to tables based on availability or preferred seating arrangements.
• Help create an enjoyable dining experience and maintain a safe, clean, and neat environment for guests and associates.
• Maintain sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information shared.
• Supervise dining-room food-service associates to ensure customer service, food handling, and sanitation procedures are followed.
• Help train new food-service team members.
• Supervise dining-room closing and ensure side work and station setup are completed properly.
• Know emergency safety procedures and help evacuate guests during a fire or other emergency.
• Assist with service, including occasional bussing and food service, while maintaining safe food-handling and sanitation standards.
• Operate equipment as requested, such as fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea or soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
• Work with staff from other departments to perform job duties and support special events or functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
