About The Position

As the welcoming face of Seasons Restaurant, the Host/Hostess creates the first connection with our guests, transforming arrivals into moments of genuine hospitality and lasting impressions. This role involves collaborating with a team of servers to provide exceptional service during the dining experience. The Host/Hostess will manage the host stand, handle reservations, and make recommendations for table section setups. They are also responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and proper setup of restaurant sections and tables before opening. A comprehensive knowledge of menus, ingredients, and restaurant information is essential. Additionally, the role includes taking drink orders, preparing and serving beverages, accurate cash handling, processing transactions, and conducting opening procedures like setting up coffee and food displays. The Host/Hostess will also provide information and assistance to Residence Club guests, orienting them to facilities and services, and ensuring familiarity with all Residence Club services and hours of operation. Safety procedures for food and beverage equipment must be followed, and any accidents or injuries reported to Security. The role also involves stocking and organizing retail items in the coffee shop, proper and safe handling of chemicals, and swift resolution of guest inconveniences or complaints, with management informed of the situation and its resolution.

Requirements

  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language
  • Ability to operate computer equipment and other food & beverage computer systems
  • Strong communication skill
  • Previous restaurant experience preferred
  • San Diego County Food Handlers card (not upon hire)
  • Responsible Beverage Service certification

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests and provide exceptional service during their dining experience in collaboration with a team of servers.
  • Manage the host stand, make/review reservations, and make recommendations as to the setup of the table sections.
  • Ensure cleanliness of each section of the restaurant and make the necessary improvements as well as checking each table prior to opening to ensure its proper set.
  • Develop a complete working knowledge of the menus, menu ingredients and restaurant information.
  • Take drink orders, prepare cold and hot beverages, and serve them in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain accurate cash handling, process transactions through the POS and count back change to customers.
  • Conduct all opening procedures including setting up the complimentary coffee and food displays.
  • Provide information and assistance to Residence Club guests as requested, giving them an orientation of the facilities.
  • Be familiar with all Residence Club services and hours of operation.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed when using the food and beverage equipment and notify Security of any accident or injury.
  • Stock, re-stock, and organize the retail items in the coffee shop needed.
  • Handle, store and utilize all chemicals properly and safely.
  • Handle any guest inconvenience or complaint swiftly and inform management of the situation and how it was resolved.
