About The Position

Sylvia's, a Harlem institution founded in 1962 by Sylvia Woods, is seeking Hosts/Cashiers with an enthusiastic and welcoming personality to join their team. The Host/Cashier is responsible for creating a welcoming environment by promptly greeting guests, accommodating parties with swift attention, and managing cash and credit card transactions. They will also be responsible for seating guests according to table availability and the seating chart.

Have the ability to maintain a welcoming personality in a fast-paced environment.
The ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time.

Restaurant Experience: 1 year (Preferred)

Responsibilities

Enthusiastically greet and welcome guests entering the restaurant.
Assign guests to tables suitable for their needs to provide the best guest experience.
Manage cash and credit card transactions.
Seat guests in the dining room in accordance with the table seating chart and availability.
Answer telephone calls with a smile and respond to inquiries or transfer calls.
Maintain the restaurant with regards to cleanliness, neatness, and customer accessibility.
Work as a team member to support other restaurant employees in their duties.
Follow directions on other duties as assigned by the Management team.
