About The Position

Block by Block employs Ambassadors to make public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner for the communities it serves. The Hospitality Ambassador provides a visible street-level presence and performs a variety of tasks to improve the experience and appearance of an assigned zone. The role involves engaging visitors, sharing directions and city information, cleaning and maintaining outdoor areas, and reporting concerns to Safety Ambassadors. Employees must maintain a positive, professional demeanor. Experience is preferred but not required; training is provided.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to walk continuously during an eight-hour shift; duties may include riding a three-wheeled bike cart.
Ability to work outdoors in all conditions.
Ability to speak, read, and write English to complete basic reports.
Maintain a positive, professional demeanor.

Nice To Haves

Experience is preferred but not required; training is provided.
Valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain a visible presence in the assigned zone and help improve its overall experience and appearance.
Acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting or smile, providing directions and city information.
Remove litter from streets, sidewalks, and alleys while moving through the zone with a rolling trash can containing supplies and tools.
Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, and other surfaces.
Pull weeds.
Damp-wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, including trash can lids and news boxes.
Watch for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report them to Safety Ambassadors using two-way radios.
Complete basic daily reports of tasks completed.
