About The Position

UNC Health Medical Group, in partnership with UNC Health Lenoir in Kinston, North Carolina, is seeking a per diem Hospitalist Physician. The role involves 2 or more 12-hour shifts per month, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with an average of 14–17 patients per day. The physician works in an open ICU and must run codes; no procedures are required. The electronic medical record system is EPIC.

The position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System, and is not a State-employed position. The physician generally works in a medical office setting with a moderate noise level. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of medicine.
• Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency training.
• Board certification in Internal Medicine and satisfaction of applicable medical staff board-certification requirements.
• Active membership on the Rex Hospital Medical Staff.
• North Carolina medical license.
• DEA license.
• MD; ACLS certification is listed as a licensure/certification requirement.
• High-level quantitative and qualitative reasoning skills.
• Ability to communicate proficiently in English.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Prior hospitalist experience is preferred.
• BLS/ACLS certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide hospitalist care for an average of 14–17 patients per day.
• Work in an open ICU and run codes.
• Diagnose medical and clinical issues presented by patients.
• Communicate proficiently in English.
