This opportunity is with a respected, community-based academic health system serving Southeast Alabama, Southwest Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle. The flagship medical center is a 420-bed regional referral hub serving over 460,000 residents. It is recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level II Trauma Center, and Chest Pain Center, and also operates the region’s only Level III NICU and inpatient pediatric unit. With a medical staff of over 200 physicians across nearly every specialty, the organization fosters a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The facility is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician to join its established Hospital Medicine team as a Nocturnist. Physicians will provide comprehensive inpatient care for hospitalized adult patients while working alongside a collaborative team of hospitalists, specialists, advanced practice providers, and support staff. The position offers strong specialty backup, modern hospital resources, and an opportunity to practice in a high-quality regional referral center.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency program
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Eligible for or holding an active Alabama medical license

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced/New hospitalists encouraged to apply
  • Current ACLS certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care to hospitalized adult patients during night shifts
  • Perform admissions, evaluations, and ongoing management of acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Respond to overnight patient care needs and coordinate appropriate treatment plans
  • Collaborate with specialists, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary care teams
  • Manage patient transitions of care and ensure continuity of treatment
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based clinical practices
  • Support patient safety, clinical efficiency, and exceptional patient outcomes
