Eastern Shawnee Staffing Services is seeking experienced Nocturnist Physicians (MD/DO) to support the inpatient medicine team at Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility in Chinle, Arizona. This long-term locum opportunity allows you to care for a diverse patient population while serving one of the nation's largest Native American communities in a mission-driven healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Strong clinical, diagnostic, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced environments
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license
  • Current DEA registration
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of recent inpatient Hospitalist experience required
  • Must be a U.S. citizen residing primarily in the United States
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Federal Security Clearance
  • Immunization records required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Locum Tenens experience preferred
  • Previous Nocturnist experience strongly preferred
  • Experience managing adult and pediatric inpatient populations independently
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage high-acuity patients
  • Previous Indian Health Service (IHS), Tribal Health, Rural Health, or Critical Access Hospital experience preferred
  • Must be a U.S. citizen living and working primarily within the United States

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care for hospitalized patients during overnight shifts
  • Perform admissions, evaluations, consultations, and daily management of acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for adult inpatients
  • Respond to overnight clinical changes and medical emergencies
  • Coordinate care with nursing staff, specialists, emergency department providers, and ancillary services
  • Order, interpret, and act upon laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic testing results
  • Participate in patient discharge planning and transitions of care
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Ensure compliance with facility policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams
