About The Position

The Hospital Cook is responsible for preparing meals using recipes and proper cooking techniques, utilizing kitchen equipment, and cooking a variety of foods. This role involves reviewing menus, planning meals, preparing ingredients, and ensuring food is ready on time for service. Additionally, the cook must adhere to all food safety and cleanliness standards, maintain proper food temperatures and storage, and follow Department of Health and infection control guidelines. The position also requires providing friendly and respectful customer service, following CARES service standards, and adhering to all workplace safety guidelines. Attending required training and in-services is also a part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of cooking experience in a hospital, nursing home, or similar setting

Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals using recipes and proper cooking techniques
  • Use kitchen equipment (mixers, slicers, ovens, etc.) to prepare food
  • Cook a variety of foods (bake, grill, fry, steam, etc.)
  • Taste and adjust food to ensure quality and flavor
  • Portion meals correctly for patients and guests
  • Review menus and production sheets to plan meals
  • Prepare ingredients (wash, cut, season, etc.)
  • Ensure food is ready on time for service
  • Follow all food safety and cleanliness standards
  • Maintain proper food temperatures and storage
  • Follow Department of Health and infection control guidelines
  • Keep work areas clean and organized
  • Provide friendly, respectful service to patients, staff, and visitors
  • Follow CARES service standards
  • Follow all workplace safety guidelines
  • Report any safety concerns
  • Attend required training and in-services
