About The Position

Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital of Wilmington is seeking a Hospital Administrator to lead their newest location in Wilmington, North Carolina, opening in late fall 2026. This new 16,000 sq ft facility, with planned expansion to 24,000 sq ft, is designed to support high-quality emergency and specialty care and allow for growth. The Hospital Administrator will work closely with partner veterinarians and Directors of Operations and Team Development to build the hospital from the ground up, establishing workflows, shaping culture, and driving operational excellence. This leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee all non-clinical operations, including team development, financial performance, client experience, and process optimization. The administrator will be responsible for hiring and onboarding a new team, implementing systems for efficiency and quality, and creating a hospital that reflects clinical excellence and a strong, sustainable culture. The role involves building and leading a high-performing team, partnering with medical leadership, establishing efficient workflows and scalable systems, driving financial performance, and creating a collaborative culture.

Requirements

  • Experience preferably in a healthcare or veterinary medicine
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a high aptitude for learning
  • Can make decisions quickly and confidently to keep the hospital moving forward
  • Is resourceful and can find solutions to non-standard situations
  • Possesses resilience while navigating through difficult situations
  • Enjoys directing and planning daily workflow and operational processes
  • Is skilled in conflict management with the ability to diffuse tense situations

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage a growing team of veterinary professionals from veterinary assistants to veterinarians
  • Function as the daily decision-maker and “go-to” resource to address issues while working to create systems to reduce preventable ones
  • Help develop and optimize workflow into consistent and methodical processes
  • Work closely to develop a healthy and sustainable organizational structure to reach the full potential of the team and each member
  • Serve as a culture champion and lead by example with a positive “can-do” outlook
  • Guide, manage and develop department managers and promote a collective effort
  • Continually challenge the ceiling on client experience and team development
