About The Position

Emerus is partnering with ChristianaCare to establish a new 16-bed small-format hospital, featuring 8 ER beds and 8 inpatient beds. This nursing leadership role is crucial in developing a patient and people-focused culture from the ground up. The position requires a leader willing to work hard and establish the hospital as a preferred neighborhood choice. This involves setting clear direction and expectations for clinical and office staff, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and meeting licensing and accreditation standards.

Requirements

BSN, required
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse without sanctions, required
Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association, required
Knowledge of JCAHO or DNV standards, required
Completion of FEMA ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 700, and ICS 800 within 60 days of hire
Position requires fluency in English; written and oral communication

3+ years of progressive management experience in a hospital or healthcare setting, preferred
5+ years nursing experience, preferred

Responsibilities

Provide leadership, training, supervision, guidance, and coaching for hospital employees.
May serve as the Patient Safety Officer for assigned facilities, monitoring and reporting patient incidents, serious events, and infrastructure failures.
Conduct Root Cause Analyses (RCA) with the Patient Safety Committee to identify opportunities for improvement and develop action plans.
Ensure the hospital complies with all established policies, procedures, federal, state, and local regulations, and licensing and accreditation standards.
Handle patient grievances in accordance with Emerus values, patient privacy, and PHI security principles.
Assume lead role during facility inspections by licensing and accrediting agencies.
Oversee all functional aspects of the hospital, including Nursing, Lab, Radiology, Pharmacy, Front Office, and Dietary.
Assume fiscal accountability through budgetary oversight.
Complete and communicate employee performance evaluations.
Drive data provided to regional management through the use of clearly defined metrics.
Monitor facility quality indicators and develop resolution plans in collaboration with regional and corporate functions.
Oversee continued employee training requirements, safety, and quality initiatives.
Ensure the business office complies with all established policies, procedures, and protocols regarding the patient process, collections, and customer service.
Ensure the facility is equipped with appropriate supplies and materials for quality patient care.
Work closely with Human Resources on employee-related issues, training, and staff development.
Ensure all functional areas are fully staffed with continuous coverage.
Participate in community outreach programs.
Attend staff meetings and other company-sponsored or mandated meetings.
Travel to all facility locations as required.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
