About The Position

Hartford HealthCare at Home, the largest provider of homecare services in Connecticut, is seeking a Hospice Volunteer Coordinator. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the Hospice Volunteer Program and its activities. The coordinator will collaborate with fundraising and support activities, develop annual plans for volunteer resources, and recruit, train, and evaluate volunteers. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent-required

  • Bachelor’s Degree-preferred
  • One year experience in social work, human services, or related field-preferred

Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing, and directing Hospice Volunteer Program and volunteer activities.
  • Collaborating and coordinating fundraising and support activities with VNA Fund.
  • Developing, coordinating, and evaluating annual plan for volunteer resources.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, orienting, training, assigning, and evaluating volunteers.
  • Supervising, instructing, and providing guidance to volunteers in the performance of their duties.
  • Establishing procedures in relation to volunteer activities and area of responsibility.
  • Developing and implementing programs/in-services for volunteer participation.
  • Reviewing/auditing, compiling, and maintaining volunteer records which include training and service data for compliance with regulations.
  • Scheduling meetings with volunteers to provide support and ensure effectiveness of service.
  • Identifying needs and gaps in service.
  • Acting as volunteer liaison member of interdisciplinary team.
  • Collaborating with community partners in recruitment, training, and assignment of volunteers into those settings.
  • Facilitating communications with Agency staff, volunteers, and families.
  • Educating the community about the Hospice and Volunteer Programs.
  • Representing the Volunteer Program at internal and external meetings.
  • Collaborating with staff in writing grant proposals/requests for funds.
  • Collaborating with public affairs department regarding ongoing community relations programs.
