About The Position
Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and families in Fort Lauderdale, Sunrise, Pompano Beach, Hollywood, and surrounding areas. Care is provided in pets’ homes, with time to listen to families, answer questions, and support dignified, peaceful goodbyes. The role offers independent mobile practice, a limited number of appointments per day, onboarding, mentorship, and support from experienced colleagues. Schedule options include five-day or four-day schedules, as well as two- and three-day and self-managed part-time options. Veterinarians may choose four weekend days per month rather than follow a fixed weekend rotation. Compensation varies by schedule: five-day roles offer a $150,000 base salary, four-day roles start at $110,000, and other schedules receive prorated compensation. Quarterly bonus opportunities are available.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), or Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS) degree.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
- Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.
Responsibilities
- Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in their homes.
- Support families through end-of-life decisions and help pets experience dignified, peaceful goodbyes.
- Answer families’ questions with kindness and take time to listen to their concerns.
- Practice independently while using the team’s training, mentorship, and colleague support as needed.
