About The Position

Silverado Hospice South Houston is hiring a compassionate and skilled registered nurse to provide after-hours support to hospice patients and families across the South Houston areas. The role supports timely assessments and continuity of care, delivering dignified, responsive care during critical moments. The position is PRN (per diem), with a listed schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and requires flexibility to work outside regular hours based on business needs.

Silverado has delivered care to people with neurodegenerative conditions and life-limiting illnesses through its hospice services since 1997. The organization describes itself as a nationally recognized team and a certified Great Place to Work. The anticipated pay range is $39–$41 USD. Employment offers are contingent on a background check, drug screening, physical, and TB testing if applicable. Silverado uses E-Verify to confirm work authorization.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse with a valid state license.
• At least 1 year of nursing experience.
• Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Must clear a criminal background check, physical, and drug screening.
• Flexibility to work outside regular hours based on business needs.
• Must be comfortable working in environments with animals and pets.

Nice To Haves

• Hospice experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing evaluations and after-hours assessments for patients experiencing changes in condition.
• Assess patients for signs and symptoms of discomfort, including pain, and take prompt, appropriate action.
• Initiate and update plans of care as needed; provide nursing follow-up and caregiver instruction.
• Submit accurate documentation within 24 hours of visits.
• Coordinate services across settings to ensure the quality and appropriateness of care.
• Follow approved care plans, modify them as needed, and communicate with physicians when appropriate.
