Hospice On-Call RN, Weekends
About The Position
Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Hospice RN On-Call provides after-hours clinical support, triages patient needs, and coordinates care to support continuity and quality outcomes. The role delivers remote and field-based nursing support, assesses patient conditions, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to address urgent and emergent patient needs. The on-call schedule runs from Friday at 5 p.m. to Monday at 8 a.m. The position offers an annual salary range of $79,600 to $119,400 based on full-time employment. Pay depends on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. Benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements. Candidates must pass a drug test before beginning employment.
Requirements
- Current RN license specific to the state(s) assigned.
- At least 1 year of nursing experience.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance.
- Pass a drug test before beginning employment.

Responsibilities
- Provide on-call nursing support, triage patient needs, and determine appropriate interventions.
- Assess patient conditions by phone and/or in-person visits and escalate care as needed.
- Coordinate with physicians, care teams, and caregivers to ensure timely and effective care delivery.
- Educate patients and caregivers about symptom management and care plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and clinical decisions.
