About The Position

Amedisys is hiring a hospice aide to provide personal and supportive care to patients in the Pikeville/Spencer area. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The role helps patients receive care at home and requires following written personal-care instructions prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care. The aide observes, reports, and documents changes in patients’ status and reports to the primary nurse if unable to perform a task.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification or registration as a nurse assistant, in accordance with state requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care services to patients.
• Use safety principles and proper body mechanics when assisting with ambulation, transfers, range-of-motion exercises, positioning, and household chores.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as assigned.
• Perform homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observe, report, and document changes in patient status; report to the primary nurse if unable to perform a task.
• Follow written personal-care instructions prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care, received before providing services.
• Assist patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by a nurse or therapist.
• Perform and record simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
