About The Position

Amedisys is hiring a full-time hospice aide to provide personal and supportive care to patients in their homes. The role involves following written personal-care instructions from a registered nurse and the patient’s plan of care, assisting with daily activities and prescribed exercises, and observing and reporting changes in patient status. Home health or hospice experience is preferred within the last 12 months. The position is listed for days and pays $20–$24 per hour; compensation may vary by location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A Pennsylvania CNA license is required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification or registration as a nurse assistant, in accordance with state requirements; the posting also states that a Pennsylvania CNA license is required.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance.

Nice To Haves

• Home health or hospice experience preferred within the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care services to patients.
• Use safety principles and proper body mechanics while assisting with ambulation, transfers, range-of-motion activities, positioning, and household chores.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as assigned.
• Perform homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observe, report, and document changes in a patient's status; report to the primary nurse when unable to perform a task.
• Follow specific written personal-care instructions prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care, received before services are delivered.
• Assist patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by a nurse or therapist.
• Perform and record simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
