Requirements

  • Prior experience working or volunteering in social services is preferred.
  • Lived experience of homelessness or housing instability is a plus.
  • A valid Oklahoma driver's license, proof of insurance, and a clean driving record are essential.
  • Proficiency in data entry, specifically within the local Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) database.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for accessing the HMIS system and cannot have been permanently terminated from using it in the past.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate client records and case notes in an electronic database in accordance with program and agency standards.
  • Compassionate and empathetic demeanor.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Motor vehicle record (MVR) check for positions requiring driving.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working or volunteering with persons experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
  • Ability to commute using public transportation in combination with a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Locating and supporting individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness.
  • Actively reaching out to people residing in encampments and unsheltered locations.
  • Building rapport with individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Conducting Coordinated Entry assessments to connect individuals with essential services.
  • Facilitating positive exits into shelter, temporary housing, and permanent placements.
  • Employing Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Reducing barriers to housing through document support.
  • Maintaining accurate data in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Establishing positive relationships with local shelters, mental health programs, and community service providers.
