About The Position

Habitat for Humanity of Dane County (HFHDC) is looking for a skilled, mission-driven Home Repair & Warranty Manager to lead the day-to-day construction operations of our home repair and warranty program. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on the jobsite, enjoys mentoring others, and takes pride in delivering high-quality work that makes a meaningful difference for local families. In this role, you’ll oversee the full scope of home repair and warranty projects, ensuring alignment with HFHDC’s goals, standards, and values. You’ll champion a culture of safety for everyone on site—homeowners, volunteers, contractors, staff, and partners alike—while driving projects forward on time, within budget, and in compliance with funding requirements. As a key leader, you’ll serve as a trusted resource for both internal teams and external stakeholders, bringing expertise, accountability, and a strong commitment to community impact in everything you do.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of residential construction or home repair experience, including advanced knowledge of all phases of residential construction, the ability to read blueprints/house plans, diagnose and solve on-site challenges, plan several steps ahead, and teach others how to successfully complete construction tasks.
  • Understand and appreciate the mission of HFHDC and willing to actively support the advancement and growth of the organization.
  • Demonstrate outstanding leadership skills, including promoting organizational priorities, providing coaching/training to others on hard and soft skills, and working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate excellent project management skills, including a proven ability to navigate multiple, simultaneous projects and to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Must be able to determine the appropriate tools/equipment for various construction tasks and utilize them according to safety guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively (written and verbal) and deal tactfully with all kinds of individuals yet remain consistent in keeping a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to instruct others on how to engage and supervise skilled and unskilled laborers in all facets of home construction.
  • Comfort speaking in front of small groups.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Adherence to timelines, dependability, and an ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and possess a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient and successful use of various technical programs for business/construction purposes including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications and Buildertrend/other build software.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 3 years of volunteer leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • HFHI competent person training and/or OSHA 30 (or willingness to complete upon hire)
  • WI Lead-Safe Renovator certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire)

Responsibilities

  • Proficient and successful use of various technical programs for business/construction purposes including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications and Buildertrend or other build software.
  • Ensure HFHDC sites meet all safety & building regulations and work complies with company policies; communicate and enforce with staff, volunteers, and subcontractors.
  • Oversee quality control and enforce accountability for maintaining project schedules; provide coaching and explore solutions to ensure work is performed to industry standards.
  • Initiate all site-related aspects of each project including home assessments to identify project scopes, permit requirements, timelines, cost estimates and required resources.
  • Collaborate with HFHDC team members to maintain compliance with funding sources and to continually explore, test, and refine best practices.
  • Grow the pool of subcontractor partners to optimize skillsets, prioritize efficiency and maximize gift-in-kind opportunities.
  • Adjust schedules, expectations, and targets as organization needs or project financing parameters change.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors/vendors and HFHDC team members to update project progress, address concerns, and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Effectively engage and supervise skilled and unskilled labor in all facets of construction; play an active role in recruitment and retention of key construction volunteers.
  • Provide on-site volunteer leadership and construction labor as needed for new construction sites and special events.
  • Share feedback to support the improvement of Construction department functions, processes and procedures.
