About The Position
Visiting Angels of Owensboro is hiring part-time Home Health Aides to support clients in the local area, including Henderson, Madisonville, and Morganfield. Aides help enrich clients’ quality of life and support their wellness according to individualized care plans. The work may include personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, mobility assistance, errands, medication reminders, and responding to emergencies. The organization offers opportunities for advanced training in dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle for transporting clients.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Training in First Aid and emergency response; training is provided if needed.
- Excellent time-management skills and ability to juggle multiple duties.
- Reliable transportation to and from client homes at scheduled care times.
- Physical endurance for tasks such as carrying groceries and physically supporting a client.
- Comfort performing housekeeping and cooking duties while adhering to applicable dietary constraints.
- Ability and willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards, including background checks.
- Compassion, understanding, and a desire to brighten each client’s day.
Responsibilities
- Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
- Assist clients with light physical exercise or walks.
- Plan and prepare meals with clients.
- Handle light housekeeping duties.
- Report health changes or unusual incidents.
- Provide pleasant, supportive companionship.
- Respond quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
- Accompany and supervise clients during shopping trips.
- Remind clients to take prescription medications appropriately.
- Assist with mobility and ambulation at home and during appointments or errands.
