Part Time Home Health Aide - HHA
About The Position
Visiting Angels of Sioux Falls is hiring part-time Home Health Aides to serve clients in the Sioux Falls area and surrounding communities. The role supports clients’ quality of life and wellness in accordance with individualized care plans. Care may include personal care and hygiene, light exercise and walks, meal planning and preparation, light housekeeping, companionship, medication reminders, mobility assistance, shopping trips, and transportation to appointments or errands. Aides report health changes or unusual incidents and respond responsibly to emergencies. Advanced training opportunities may be available in dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle for transporting clients.
- Reliable transportation to and from client homes at scheduled care times, including during snow days.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time-management skills and ability to manage multiple duties.
- Physical endurance for carrying groceries and physically supporting clients.
- Comfort performing housekeeping and cooking duties while adhering to applicable dietary constraints.
- Ability and willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards, including a background check.
- Compassion, understanding, and a desire to brighten clients’ days.
- Working email and phone available at all times.
- Professional appearance and attitude.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of caregiving experience is preferred.
- Interest in advanced training in dementia care or Alzheimer’s care.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
- Help clients with light physical exercise or walks.
- Plan and prepare meals with clients while following applicable dietary constraints.
- Perform light housekeeping duties.
- Report health changes or unusual incidents.
- Provide pleasant, supportive companionship.
- Respond quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
- Accompany and supervise clients during shopping trips.
- Remind clients to take prescription medications appropriately.
- Assist clients with mobility and ambulation at home and during appointments or errands.
- Transport clients using a reliable personal vehicle when needed.
