About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking a Hole Watch / Fire Watch for a position in Pass Christian, MS. In this role, you will be responsible for contacting employees and shutting down equipment in case of emergencies such as gas or chemical spills or fires. You will also direct employees to the correct evacuation routes. This is a non-exempt role that reports to the Foreman, and work is checked frequently according to specific procedures.

Requirements

High school or equivalent
Must have completed Turner qualification training for Firewatch/Holewatch
Must be able to operate a plant radio to call Plant Operations and Foreman in case of an emergency
Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Responsibilities

Contact employees on the job in case of a gas or chemical spill, fire, or other emergency.
Shut down all equipment (welding machines, etc.) during an emergency.
Direct employees to the correct evacuation route.
Stay awake and alert at all times.
Know what is going on in the area and on the job.
Stay in constant contact with the people doing the work.
Know the location and use of the nearest fire extinguisher.
Know the location and use of emergency/safety equipment.
Know the location of welding machines and how to turn them off if necessary.
Know the location of oxygen and acetylene bottles and how to turn them off if necessary.
Keep the area clean at all times.
Never leave a job unattended.
Ensure proper relief before leaving the job.
Know who and how to contact in case of an emergency on a job.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Comply with company and client job site safety requirements.
