About The Position

Turner Industries is a fully diversified industrial contractor that provides responsive, innovative solutions to increase plant production, reduce costs, and prevent shutdowns in industries such as petrochemical, refining, energy, and pulp and paper. We are seeking a Hole Watch / Fire Watch for a position in Pass Christian, MS. In case of a gas or chemical spill, fire, or other emergency, the Firewatch / Holewatch position contacts employees on the job and shuts down all equipment (welding machines, etc.) and directs employees to the correct evacuation route. This is a non-exempt role that reports to the Foreman. Assigned duties are according to specific procedures and work is checked frequently. No per diem is available.

Requirements

• High school or equivalent
• Must have completed Turner qualification training for Firewatch/Holewatch
• Must be able to operate a plant radio to call Plant Operations and Foreman in case of an emergency
• Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
• Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Responsibilities

• Contact employees on the job in case of a gas or chemical spill, fire, or other emergency.
• Shut down all equipment (welding machines, etc.) in case of an emergency.
• Direct employees to the correct evacuation route during an emergency.
• Stay awake and alert at all times.
• Know what is going on in the area and on the job.
• Stay in constant contact with the people doing the work.
• Know where the nearest fire extinguisher is located and how to use it.
• Know where the emergency/safety equipment is located and how to use it.
• Know where the welding machines in use are located on the job and how to turn them off if necessary.
• Know where the oxygen and acetylene bottles are located and how to turn them off if necessary.
• Keep the area clean at all times.
• Never leave a job unattended.
• Be properly relieved before leaving the job.
• Know who and how to contact in case of an emergency on a job.
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
