About The Position

Hendrick Medical Center South, part of the not-for-profit Hendrick Health System, is seeking an internal medicine physician to join its hospitalist team in Abilene, Texas. The role offers a manageable census, a strong staffing model, and clinical autonomy in a growing, community-focused setting. The hospital has 231 beds and a 20-bed open ICU. Hospitalists average 12–15 patients and 1–2 admissions per day, with minimal ICU volume of 0–1 admissions daily. Specialty support includes cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, pulmonology, infectious disease, general surgery, interventional radiology, and OB/GYN. The daytime team includes five physicians and a dedicated day APC and swing APC, with overnight nocturnist coverage. Hospitalists participate in ICU admissions, codes, and rapid responses, and may perform selected bedside procedures, with support and proctoring available. Internal medicine physician.

Responsibilities

Participate in hospitalist care for an average census of 12–15 patients per day.
Manage approximately 1–2 admissions daily and participate in ICU admissions, with minimal ICU admission volume.
Respond to codes and rapid responses.
Perform selected bedside procedures; support and proctoring are available.
