About The Position

This role involves providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in history to foster their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, enabling them to function successfully in society. Additionally, the position requires directing and managing assigned program areas of extracurricular and intramural athletics for the district, ensuring students have opportunities to participate and that all federal, state, UIL, and local requirements are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI).
  • ESL Certified.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience.
  • Knowledge of overall operations of athletic program.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and UIL policies governing athletics.
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret data.
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel.
  • Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • 2 years successful teaching and coaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and accommodate individual student differences.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, materials, and technology based on student learning styles and needs.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student development.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
  • Participate in staff development activities and faculty meetings.
  • Direct and manage assigned areas of the district’s athletic program.
  • Maintain an active program that promotes good sportsmanship and student development.
  • Maintain physical and academic eligibility requirements for participation in each sport.
  • Manage assigned athletic operations, including overseeing ticket sales, monitoring game officials, and ensuring facility preparation.
  • Attend district athletic contests and prepare interscholastic game schedules.
  • Arrange transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town athletic events.
  • Monitor the cleaning, sanitizing, repairing, and storing of athletic equipment.
  • Implement district student management policies related to athletics and ensure enforcement of student discipline.
  • Develop and administer budgets for assigned athletic areas.
  • Maintain a current inventory of athletic supplies and equipment.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and recommend hiring of coaches and support staff for assigned areas.
