About The Position

KIPP NYC Public Schools is seeking passionate and dedicated teachers for the 2026-2027 academic year to join KIPP NYC College Prep High School (CPHS). CPHS is a rigorous, college-preparatory high school located in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx, currently educating over 2,000 students in grades 9-12. The school offers a wide array of Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Enrollment, and Honors courses, alongside numerous electives, clubs, and sports programs. A comprehensive college and career counseling department ensures students are well-prepared for their post-secondary journeys. For the 2026-2027 academic year, CPHS will expand to an additional facility, adopting a Lower School and Upper School model. The Upper School will feature industry concentrations for students in grades 11-12. The new facility boasts modern amenities including classrooms, science labs, gymnasiums, a commercial kitchen, a cafetorium, a rooftop play space, and dedicated rooms for arts, music, and health. KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of free, public charter schools committed to partnering with families and communities to create joyful, academically excellent schools. KIPP NYC serves over 9,400 students and supports 4,700 alumni through its network of elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as its KIPP Forward program which supports alumni in college, career, and life.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years of teaching experience is strongly preferred
  • New York State teacher certification in the appropriate content area is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Planning a college preparatory curriculum that combines the school’s standards, New York State Standards, and fosters critical thinking.
  • Executing thoughtful, rigorous daily college preparatory lessons.
  • Assessing student progress, and communicating results to students, families, and colleagues.
  • Providing individual and small group instruction until all students achieve mastery.
  • Modeling KIPP NYC’s character strengths in all interactions and communications with students, families, and staff.
  • Advising a small group of students to succeed through their four years of high school.
